Tumbling @ PSC

Here at Pittwater sports centre we are excited to be introducing a Tumbling Program. This program is fun, fast, full of energy and based specifically on flips and somersaults. There will be several classes running throughout the week to suit ALL ages and abilities.

Our tumble program is overseen by 2x World Champion Tumbler - Samantha Palmer

What is Tumbling?

Tumbling comes under the discipline of Gymnastics but is a sport in its own right. Tumbling consists of elements such as round-offs, back flips, whips and somersaults both double and twisting. Only hands and feet are allowed to touch the tumble track.

It is performed in competition on a 25m long dynamic track, normally made from carbon fibre rods. Two passes are performed in the preliminary rounds and a furthur two in the finals.

During training Tumblers train not only on the tumble track but on trampolines, the long tramp and on floor doing rebound work. Tumbling involves power, skill, strength and agility.

About our programs

Tumbling Fun

For those who want to try tumbling for fun, learn the basics and have a good time. The session lasts for 45 minutes and is packed full of the different aspects of Tumbling. It is a fantastic way to keep fit, be active and learn the basics to take further if you wish!!

Tumbling Fun Times

Mon & Wed 4.45-5.30pm

Tumbling Tigers

The Tumbling Tigers is the next step for those wanting to learn a little more, the tigers will all be able to round off before starting the class. During the time as a tiger you will learn the preparation for a back flip and move onto a full back flip (at the individual pace of each tumbler). Then you’re ready to step up the training! The tigers class runs for 1.25 hours, giving more time to concentrate on the skills.

 Tumbling Tigers Times

Fri   4.00-5.15pm

Thurs   5.30-6.45pm

Aerial Flyers

The flyers are at the stage of learning aerial work, somersaulting both forwards and backwards and putting together harder skills. The flyers train for a total of 3 hours a week, two sessions of 1.5 hours, they take a portion of their training to focus on strength, one of the most important aspects of a tumbler. The class is a brilliant way to work on the skills they currently have and learn a whole new range, tumbling today is increasing in popularity so be sure to get involved!

Aerial Fliers Times

Weds   5.30-6.45pm

Entry into our Squad and Team classes are by selection only. If would like for your child to be assessed please email our Head Tumbling Coach Samantha Palmer at samp@nbg.com.au to arrange a suitable day and time
