'Kindy Rec' Program Information

Kindy Rec

Our Kindy Rec program is developed as an “in-between” class between Kindy Gym and Recreation. Here, the children come into the gym on their own, warm up for 10–15 minutes, learning basic skills and body shapes. Sometimes we play a game, and we always incorporate some music or action songs into the warm-up.
Children are then placed into small groups and will do three apparatus stations each week. These apparatus change each week and include all Olympic apparatus such as beam, bars, parallel bars, floor, rings as well as long trampoline, pit, mini tramp, trapeze, and much more. Children are encouraged to line up and take turns, improving social as well as physical skills.
A game or fine motor skill activity is done in cool down at the end of each class.
This class is for children that are socially and physically ready to separate from parents, aged 4–5yrs, or earlier if they have graduated from our Kindy Gym program.

Just a few rules to abide by:

  • Be punctual. Your child will participate much better if you arrive before the class starts so the children all come in together.
  • See the office each week to check name off and receive a “stamp.”
  • Dress appropriately— No loose, baggy clothing or jewellery please. T-shirt and shorts is fine or a leotard for girls. Also, no dress-up costumes. Keep these for home play!
  • Hair tied back for girls and no jewellery.
  • No parents in the gym at all times! If you have a problem getting your child into the gym, do not enter the gym, please see the office for assistance.
  • A make-up session is available in case of sickness. Notify the office of sickness prior to your child's class, and call the gym the day you would like to make up the class. Make-up lessons are subject to availability and MUST be booked in. One make up session per term permitted. Make-up sessions are not carried over to the next term. Make-up lessons are available from week 3–8 inclusive.
  • Please do not distract your child by yelling out, as he/she is trying to concentrate! Just let the coaches do their job.
  • If your child needs a drink during class, they will have to go out to do so, as no food or drinks are permitted on the gym floor.
  • Please enure your child has used the bathroom before class. After all, they are still pre-schoolers!
  • See the office before taking video or photographs of your child, as in accordance with the Child Protection Act.

We trust your child will enjoy a session at NBG, and continue to grow strong and healthy learning gymnmastics.
