Men's Artistic Gymnastics (MAG)
Since the mid nineties, Northern Beaches Gymnastics boys’ program has remained No.1 in the country, with nine consecutive victories at the Men’s National Clubs Championships since 1996 and a second place in 1995... an achievement unmatched by any other program in Australia. Mark Forrest was the man behind the club’s success through the nineties, working alongside Lu Ming, Martin Shields, and Brett Wood. Mark retired from coaching in 2002, handing the reigns over to Lu Ming, who is currently the club’s head coach and the head of our boys’ program. The reason for the success behind the NBG boys’ program is the team. Our coaches work because of their passion for the sport. We currently have four tiers in our programs. Our junior boys and development squads are run by Brett. The intermediate programs are run by Martin, Brett, and Robbie and our senior levels program is run by Martin, Lu, and Mark. Our Elite programs are run by Mark Forrest and Lu Ming. In total, Northern Beaches Gymnastics has had thirteen gymnasts represent Australia on international tours, four national champions, and over thirty state champions. We currently have two gymnasts, Arne Booysen and Adrien Janssen, based at the Australian Institute of Sports, who are aiming for Olympic and Commonwealth selection in the future. We believe we offer a unique program… one that is professional and of the highest standard. |
