About Tumbling

Tumbling comes under the discipline of Gymnastics but is a sport in its own right. Tumbling consists of elements such as round-offs, back flips, whips and somersaults both double and twisting. Only hands and feet are allowed to touch the tumble track.

It is performed in competition on a 25m long dynamic track, normally made from carbon fibre rods. Two passes are performed in the preliminary rounds and a furthur two in the finals.

During training Tumblers train not only on the tumble track but on trampolines, the long tramp and on floor doing rebound work. Tumbling involves power, skill, strength and agility.
