Day 1

We landed in Honolulu at 9.25 this morning looking a little weary but VERY excited.
The flight was pretty uneventful except for a special mention from the Captain, wishing the NBG team the best of luck at the Aloha Gymfest.
We arrived at our accomodation at 10.45 and were de-briefed by hotel security staff. Then time for a swim in the pool and rooms were sorted by mid afternoon. We all enjoyed a healthy Subway lunch after our swim.
Then it was off for a walk to Waikiki Beach for a swim/surf and how amazing to watch the sun set over the water. Arrived home to shower, change then off to dinner at Smorgys, an all-you-can-eat just two minutes up the road (Ben and Sam definitely got their money's worth!) All the kids enjoyed their dinner and LOVED the desserts.
We are off to commence training tomorrow, stay tuned... same time... same bat channel!

Day 2

Up nice and early. 8.30am and breakfast by the pool... the hard life.
From here we headed into our shuttle buses and off to Kokokahi Gymnastics club for our first Hawaiian training session. All the kids survived the three hour session with temperatures at twenty-six degrees. As usual, the girls held us up, not finishing their training on time, but the rest of the team didn't mind watching some of their great gymnastics into the bargain.
The trip through the mountains was breathtaking. Hawaii is an amazingly beautiful place.
After training we headed back for a late brunch and some swimming and surfing on Waikiki Beach. At 6:00pm we experienced Hawaiian culture with traditional dances on the beach.
For dinner we headed to a rock 'n' roll pizza place. We have never seen twenty pizzas disapear so quickly.
Tomorrow we head off to Pearl Harbour with a 6:00am start, but this a non-training day and a chance for the kids to discover more of Hawaii.
