8/3/10 - Competition Recap... Today started with the level 4's. In the USA level 4 gets catagorised into 4 divisions based on their results (no AA or App awards). The boys did superbly and were seriously the standouts of the session. They earned superior awards All around, which is the highest ranking you can have, and were the only boys to do so. After this we gave Alec an option to try level 5, he was quite nervous as he didnt know the routines, but sat on it and after a while said he'd give it a go so we learnt the routines as we went (we do not generally recommend this)!! He was in the top 2 through out until a spot of stage fright on floor and finished 6th. He got silver on Rings, pommel and Vault and 4th of P Bar, and was getting rave review from judges (not being modest either), and he was pretty chuffed by all the attention. Joel then went and WON level 5. 1st on 2 events, 2nd on 2 events and 4th on another. Outstanding performance, and again almost earned a perfect score twice (15.9 and 15.8 on floor and rings out of a possible 16) |

5/3/10 After 13 long hours all parties arrived safe and sound at the Raddison Hotel in Culver city, about 15 minutes from LAX airport. The boys had a relaxing first afternoon and had some chillout time getting settled in their rooms, and catching up with their team mates about their adventures on the different flights over. After a good night sleep, the "little" guys had their first training session at Broadway gymnastics, where they received compliments about their standards from fellow coaches from the club. Mike, who is the owner of Broadway took the whole tour group out for lunch in Santa Monica where the boys realised a burger really means a enormous meal that barely two can finish. Afternoon hit and it was time for the older boys to have their training session.. They trained along side some of the broadway gymnastics senior boys and got some new fans from the girls side, when we realised that at Broadway gymnastics the boys were not allowed to train without shirts as it is distracting for the girl squads!!! Day three and the group has been anticipating Gai's arrival. The whole group had a training session in the morning, however Brandon and Aaron did a half session as they are complaining of some injuries. Off to Disneyland today and a bit of shopping. The boys are more than excited, as some of the adults are!! Yusuf Topari |
